Evidence/activity/anecdote: My classroom is set up to create a independent as well as a collaborative working environment. The desks are setup in groups and there is also a table for group work. Students also have available privacy screens to use while working independently. There is a large floor area where the entire class can meet and several smaller floor areas that they can work at. Supplies and reference materials are available when I child needs something.
Impact on student’s learning: I feel it's important that students are comfortable while working on assignments. At times the students have the option of working where they would like. Some students like their desks while other prefer the floor. Students get more time with me. While I'm working with a student, I am not constantly barraged with "I need a new glue stick" or "I need a dictionary." The students can easily and independently access any materials they need.
